Bianca Bonetti - Senior Dietitian

B.Sc Honours Diet. DAA. APD

Why I became a dietitian - The main reason I decided to become a dietitian was to educate others about the importance of good nutrition in the prevention and management of lifestyle-related disease. Another reason would be to help others sort out the fact from the fiction. With all the conflicting messages and food myths that we are constantly exposed to, no wonder we get confused sometimes!

Food message - I actually have 3 food messages:
1) Everything in moderation!
2) Aim for plenty of colour and variety!
3) Don't be scared to experiment with new foods and flavours! It’s amazing what can sometimes result!

Favourite food - Anything mum makes! She does a great lasagne, fruity beef curry and ginger chicken stirfry!

Areas of Interest - My main areas of interest are weight management, diabetes, heart disease, eating disorders, food intolerance and gastro-intestinal disorders. I also find all the biochemical reactions that take place in the human body absolutely amazing!

Emily Everett – Consultant Dietitian

Why I became a dietitian - I always wanted to do something that helped people. I love science, I love food and wanted to do something health related and a dietitian fitted all of the above criteria.

Food Message - All in moderation and ensure you enjoy a variety of foods! Just because you didn't like it once, doesn't mean you won't like it again, always try old and new foods! You don't know what you might be missing.

Favourite Food - I love all foods, I like to put natural yoghurt on almost anything especially vegetables, can never go past something home made and have a bit of a sweet tooth... yes I do like a bit of chocolate.

Areas of Interest - I find all areas of dietetics extremely interesting, however particularly enjoy the areas of dietary management for allergies and intolerance, paediatrics and maternal nutrition, indigenous health, diabetes, sports nutrition and nutrition for people with disabilities.

Charlyn Tan – Consultant Dietitian

BSc (Nutrition), Postgrad Dip Dietetics, APD

Why I became a dietitian - I have had a lifelong interest and passion in food and health. Being able to talk about food all day is combining what I like with what I want to do.

My ultimate aim is to:

  • Empower individuals to make sensible and achievable changes towards healthier lifestyles
  • Translate complex scientific information into practical dietary advice

Being a dietitian is a rewarding career and it means so much to me knowing that I play a role in helping people live better!

Food Message:
1. Go for a variety of colours in your fruits and veggies.
2. There is no such thing as ‘bad’ foods – only bad diets! There is room for a little bit of everything and it only becomes a problem when things start getting out of balance.
3. Eat what makes your body feels good – these are foods that are usually packed with nutrients and keeps you energised throughout the day.

‘To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art’. La Rochefoucauld
